HEBRON SPORTS DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE
Mechanics. Acceleration. Coordination. Competition. Confidence.
HSDI Track & Speed develops young athletes through progressive running mechanics, speed development, movement training, and age-appropriate track competition.
SPEED IS A SKILL.
Young athletes are often described as fast or slow as though speed were simply something they were born with. HSDI approaches speed differently. Running mechanics, acceleration, posture, rhythm, coordination, force application, and movement efficiency can all be developed through appropriate teaching and repetition. Track provides young athletes with one of the clearest environments for learning how their bodies move and measuring improvement over time.
The objective is not simply to run more. The objective is to learn how to run better.

THE SPEED PATHWAY
Track & Speed develops progressively. Young athletes first need control of their bodies and an understanding of efficient movement. As those foundations improve, athletes can apply them to acceleration, sprinting, racing, and increasingly demanding competition.
STAGE 01
MOVEMENT FOUNDATION
Develop posture, balance, coordination, rhythm, arm action, foot placement, body control, and confidence moving at speed.
STAGE 02
SPEED DEVELOPMENT
Build acceleration mechanics, sprint technique, change of gears, force application, running efficiency, and the ability to reproduce quality movement under greater intensity.
STAGE 03
COMPETITIVE APPLICATION
Apply developed movement and speed in races, timed efforts, relays, and structured track competition while learning preparation, execution, and competitive composure.
ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT
01 — MOVEMENT QUALITY
Posture, balance, coordination, rhythm, mobility, body control, and the foundational movement patterns required for efficient running.
02 — ACCELERATION
Starts, projection, initial steps, force application, body angles, arm action, and learning how to build speed efficiently.
03 — MAXIMUM SPEED
Sprint mechanics, posture at speed, front-side mechanics, rhythm, relaxation, stride efficiency, and maintaining technical quality at higher velocity.
04 — SPEED ENDURANCE
Maintaining mechanics and competitive effort as fatigue increases while developing the ability to sustain quality running over appropriate distances.
05 — COMPETITIVE HABITS
Preparation, focus, consistency, resilience, confidence, race execution, learning from results, and competing with discipline.

SPEED TRANSFERS.
Running is one of the most transferable athletic skills a young athlete can develop. Acceleration matters in football. Transition speed matters in basketball. Repeated movement matters in soccer. Open-space speed matters in 7v7. Strong running mechanics improve the foundation beneath nearly every field and court sport. Track & Speed therefore serves both athletes who enjoy track competition and athletes who want to become faster and more efficient for another sport.
Better movement creates more athletic possibilities.

THE PROGRAM MODEL
DEVELOPMENT AND COMPETITION. UNDER ONE SYSTEM.
HSDI Track & Speed is an in-house athlete-development and competition program. Unlike HSDI sports that participate through an outside league, HSDI controls the developmental environment and the track competition structure. That allows training, event progression, meet scheduling, athlete expectations, and competition to be organized around one developmental philosophy.
HSDI TRACK & SPEED MODEL
HSDI controls training, coaching standards, athlete development, meet structure, competition progression, and program identity.
The primary Track & Speed season aligns with the spring school track calendar and is designed to conclude by the end of the school year rather than extend into a long summer competition circuit.
During the program’s early stage, the target is approximately 4–6 structured meets. As the program matures, the long-term model is approximately 8 meets plus an HSDI championship meet.
Meet count, dates, locations, and event offerings may vary by season based on participation, facilities, weather, and operational requirements.
SEASON PROGRESSION
BUILD. TEST. COMPETE. IMPROVE.
PHASE 01 — BUILD THE FOUNDATION
Movement quality, running mechanics, coordination, acceleration fundamentals, and technical teaching.
PHASE 02 — APPLY SPEED
Progressive sprint work, starts, timed efforts, event preparation, and learning how mechanics hold under greater intensity.
PHASE 03 — COMPETE
Structured track meets provide athletes with opportunities to race, execute, measure progress, and experience meaningful competition.
PHASE 04 — FINISH THE SEASON
The season builds toward stronger execution and, as the program matures, an HSDI championship environment that gives athletes a defined competitive conclusion.
Training creates improvement. Competition reveals it.
PROGRAM AT A GLANCE
HSDI Track & Speed is an in-house K–6 spring development and competition program. HSDI controls the training environment, coaching standards, athlete development, meet structure, and competition progression—allowing us to build the experience around young athletes and their families rather than an outside track circuit.

BUILT FOR ATHLETES. BETTER FOR FAMILIES.
Youth track should not require families to surrender an entire day every time their child competes. HSDI controls its competition structure so meets can remain focused, efficient, and appropriate for elementary-age athletes.
01 — NO ALL-DAY TRACK MEETS
A focused event schedule is designed to reduce unnecessary waiting between events and keep the competition moving.
02 — KEEP COMPETITION LOCAL
HSDI is designed around the Hebron community and surrounding area rather than requiring families to routinely travel long distances to find competition.
03 — SIGN UP. COMPETE. GO HOME.
Athletes arrive, compete in their scheduled events, support the team, and families can move on with the rest of their day.
HSDI controls the meet environment so competition serves development—not the other way around.

THE TRACK ENVIRONMENT
MORE THAN ONE WAY TO COMPETE.
Young athletes develop differently, and track provides multiple competitive environments for learning speed, rhythm, execution, and responsibility.
Different events. Different demands. One complete athlete.

IMPORTANT
Specific meet events and competitive offerings may vary by age group, season, facility, participation, and meet structure.
THE PRACTICE ENVIRONMENT
QUALITY BEFORE VOLUME.
Young athletes do not become faster simply by being asked to run harder or farther. HSDI Track & Speed practices are designed around technical teaching, high-quality movement, appropriate repetition, recovery, progressive intensity, and age-appropriate competitive work. Athletes should understand what they are trying to improve and receive opportunities to repeat that movement correctly.
Fast movement begins with quality movement.

THE HSDI STANDARD
MEASURE PROGRESS. DON’T DEFINE THE CHILD BY A TIME.
Track makes performance visible. Times, finishes, and race results provide useful feedback and help athletes understand improvement. But young athletes develop at different rates. A stopwatch should be a developmental tool—not a label placed on a child. HSDI uses measurable performance to teach preparation, execution, goal-setting, resilience, and the value of consistent work.
The number matters. The development behind the number matters more.

THE COACHING STANDARD
TEACH THE MOVEMENT.
Young athletes need more than commands to run faster. They need coaches who can teach movement, identify technical problems, communicate corrections clearly, and create appropriate progressions. HSDI coaches are expected to prioritize technical development, athlete safety, age-appropriate workloads, purposeful competition, and long-term athletic improvement.
The goal is not to exhaust athletes. The goal is to develop them.
